This is the first recorded version of this particular song. As far as my recorded and live output go, its the most popular track I have written so far.

Lyrically, it was based on someone I knew that was going through a divorce and it seems to really hit a nerve with the people that hear it. When a long-term relationship comes to an end its unbearably painful but, somehow, we have to come through it because the alternative doesn't bear thinking about.

Musically, well, the words just seemed to fit the words. The chord progressions were hanging around for ages and then along came the bittersweet lyrics and serendipity took over.
